We did eventually head back to Thailand on another mission trip, though only Esther and I. We wanted to return to the place that brought us together, and holds a special place in our hearts. This time it was also under very different circumstances, and the programme was very different. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to spend much time in the village itself, instead spending more time in the city church.

We only actually got to visit Genesis Methodist Church for less than an hour during the trip where we met the familiar Pastor Somphan, who treated us to lunch and spoke in Lahu, welcoming us to the village. Doubt he remembered us though, among so many groups which have come and gone through this village. I am still proud to say that the blue walls were HAND-painted by the bunch of us though! And we’re glad to have played a role, however small.
As you can see now, in the village church (Genesis Methodist Church) there is a lot more furniture in the church now, including a full band (!!) including drumset and bass. Cool! Also, here’s a video of the mission trip that I did a long time ago, that captures a glimpse of the journey we went through in our 2005 trip:
.the end.
